City Sprouts Barn Mural Project

“City Sprouts is a community garden, urban farm, and educational resource center in the Orchard Hill neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. Founded in 1995, City Sprouts is the oldest community garden in the city.”

My friend Ali Clark and I have been working to improve City Sprout’s garden tool shed by first transforming it into a mini-barn. We will eventually be painting a mural on the South facing wall.

[We then added a few planks of wood and added the bright white trim to give it more of a barn feel.]

[The next mission was to create a relevant mural design. Here are a few sketches.]

[I then outlined all the fruits and vegetables with a sharpie and cut them out so I could play with the composition, and eventually make a proportional mock-up.]

A colored sketch is soon to come, thanks for following our project!

Project Everlast Mural

I was hired by the Kent Bellows Studio to design and complete a mural for the nonprofit Project Everlast located on 72nd and Mercy in Omaha, NE. We had our first meeting on April 14th, and since then  I have been working with 6-8 students every week to brainstorm, compile sketches and work directly on the wall. After discussing with the students about various themes, we decided Metamorphosis would be appropriate for their space. You can read about Project Everlast here.

Here are some photos of our progress weeks 1-5.
